In the beginning
sOak London is a dream turned reality, a passion with a purpose.
The brainchild of Rob Sumner, sOak London was founded as ‘My Hartwood’ in 2015...a vehicle for Rob to follow his lifelong ambition to work with wood, celebrate nature and channel his ideas and creativity into something uniquely beautiful, always intriguing and, above all, genuinely practical.
It seems the world was ready. Commission followed commission and just one year after opening his doors, Rob’s extraordinary love for rare and beautiful woods was in high demand.
Look out world...here we come
Rebranding as sOak London in 2020, Rob began building an even bigger team of like-minded and hugely talented individuals, then started venturing into the global market by rolling out an interactive version of his bar-top Solera System for other Zuma Restaurants.
Hot on its heels came commissions for Black Rock Whisky, the Langham Hotel and the prestigious Jacques of Knowle restaurant. The world of high-end bars and restaurants had discovered a rising star.
What next?
The honest answer...we simply don’t know!
With each new challenge comes a fresh opportunity to re-imagine the world around us and create the totally unique, the unusual and the unexpected.
So, as for what next, we’ll only know the answer to that when someone asks a question no-one has asked before. And then we’ll deliver the answer.
