Zuma Hong Kong Launches ‘Zuma Zacapa Live Solera’ The World’s First Evolving Cocktail System

The award-winning restaurant Zuma Hong Kong, in partnership with Ron Zacapa, the most exquisite tasting rum in the world, launched today the first ever ‘evolving cocktail system’ – the Zuma Zacapa Live Solera.

A custom designed cocktail installation, the Zuma Zacapa Live Solera, will be installed in Hong Kong and eight other Zuma restaurants across the world – delivering an original cocktail in each restaurant, designed to appeal to local palates and to perfectly complement Zuma’s contemporary Japanese cuisine.

This unprecedented system will feature four American oak barrels connected to each other. The first three casks will be individually flavoured allowing the Zacapa rum to trickle through the barrel system, giving the drink a unique and special taste. Zuma Hong Kong’s exclusive flavours will be Szechuan and pink peppercorns, fennel seeds and duck fat

Once the rum has travelled through the Solera system, it is presented in a chilled glass with a hand-cut piece of ice and engraved with a bespoke ice stamper.

James Shearer, Zuma’s Group Bar Manager explains: “We really pride ourselves on the range of sakes, signature cocktails, premium spirits and liqueurs that we offer internationally. The “Zuma Zacapa Live Solera” will be a perfect addition – completely in line with our philosophy enhancing what is already an exciting and vibrant choice of drinks.”

Arkadiusz Rybak, Zuma Hong Kong’s Bar Development Manager adds; “The beauty of the Zuma Zacapa Live Solera means, whichever Zuma restaurant you visit throughout the world, the cocktail will be unique, reflecting the tastes and characters of its city. When thinking of which flavours we wanted to infuse the aging casks with for a unique cocktail that inflects the identity of Hong Kong, we were looking to summon the vibrant East meets West culture that is the essence to this city. We have come up with an exciting combination of ingredients; Szechuan and pink peppercorns, fennel seeds and duck fat, that infuse ingeniously with Zacapa’s premium rum.”

Lorena Vasquez, Master Blender for Zacapa added, “We’re very proud of the Solera System slow aging process, which was developed in our beautiful home in Guatemala. So it’s amazing to bring this system to other parts of the world through our partnership with Zuma- taking the best flavours of that location and marrying them with the rich, warmth of Zacapa rum in nine exciting cocktails.”

The Zuma Zacapa Live Solera launched in Miami on September 26th, today in Zuma London, Hong Kong, Dubai and New York, and will be followed by launches in Zuma Rome and Abu Dhabi on October 18th and Zuma Bangkok on October 20th
