Sustainability
We create the unusual and stir the senses but none of it means anything without sustainably sourced materials and ethically sound methods of production.
Certified Sources of Wood
At sOak London we only buy timber and lumber from suppliers who abide by local laws & traditions and have strict human rights policies and procedures. Our suppliers employ practices which are beneficial to local economies whilst having as little impact on the landscape as possible.
We ensure that all of our suppliers operate in line with EUTR 2013 and abide by the wood certification systems of both the Sustainable Forestry Initiative ® (SFI) and the Forest Stewardship Council ® (FSC).
sOak London have implemented strict internal measures to avoid sourcing the following:
Wood harvested illegally
Wood harvested in violation of traditional and civil rights.
Wood harvested from forests where high conservation values are threatened by management activity
Wood harvested from forests being converted to plantations or non-forest use
Wood harvested from forests in which genetically modified trees are planted
All our woods are FSC certified and when they become available we use trees damaged through natural processes.
Wood Treatment Science
sOak London are constantly on top of wood treatment science to preserve, to restore, to enhance and to prolong. It is permanently on our agenda. It’s a craft in its own right that we at sOak London take very seriously!
We are constantly searching for other sustainably sourced natural products that complement and enhance our woods – this has led us to some fantastic collaborations with other ethical sources.
At sOak London, we believe in sourcing our stock from selected suppliers, looking after it and giving it best possible conditions. We certify the age of all our woods. Each of our wooden pieces tells a story and we can record it for posterity.
SIP not SUP!
At sOak London we are keen to promote good drinking habits and a healthy relationship with alcohol. For further information we advocate the advice and recommendations at drinkaware. We are also very proud to announce that since March 2020 all our packaging is 100% PLASTIC FREE, as well as sustainably sourced and biodegradable. This includes our boxes, padding, tape and labels. Here’s to sipping great drinks and to the abolition of all unnecessary SUP’s (Single Use Plastics) – cheers!
Environmental Commitment
We consider environmental responsibility to be an integral part of our operations. That is why we so strongly believe in our principles, our actions surrounding them and the benefits that result from them. We strive to ensure that not only do we do our part, but also that our partners and suppliers are as equally committed as we are.
